About This Site

This site was created to ensure transparency to the GIS based Landscape Evaluation Model for Alachua County (LEMAC). LEMAC, the UMB Model on which it is based, the data that were used, the assumptions that were made, can all be downloaded for free from this site.

Technical Specifications

This website is hosted using the Microsoft IIS web server. The webpages are written in the PHP scripting language. Data is stored in a MySQL database. The Open Source GIS, University of Minesota's MapServer is used for the interactive mapper. PHP, MySQL, and the MapServer are cross-platform freely available applications. These webpages have been coded by hand using the careware Arachnophilia.

The site is best viewed with any modern web browser, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, and Opera, with a screen resolution of at least 800 X 600 pixels. This site is designed according to industry-standard web standards, including XHTML 1.0 and CSS 1.0.
